How do I apply for a Library Card?

To receive an adult library card, you must provide current identification with both name and address (example driver’s license or utility bill).

Children under the age if 18 must have a guardians address and signature on their application card.

 

What is the My Info button on the Online Catalog?

My Info:

When accessing the Online Card Catalog you will be able to view your own Patron Information checkouts, fines, holds, and reserves. Click on ‘My Info’ and enter your library barcode number. (Please note that there are letter o’s and number 0’s included in the barcode.)

The password is your last name.

 

How can I renew my materials?

Renewals cannot be completed from the online catalog.

How many items can I borrow?

A patron may borrow 10 items on their card. There are a few restrictions on the number of items you can borrow. Videos, Music CD’s and Magazines are limited to three. Restrictions may be placed on certain subjects in connection with school assignments.

 

What are the Library’s hours?

Can I request items from other Libraries?

If we don’t have the book you are looking for we can borrow it from other libraries through Interlibrary Loans. In most cases, this is a free service. If you wish to check if the item is available at another Blair County Library please visit www.blaircountylibraries.org.

 

Can I donate books to the Library?

We welcome donations of books that are in good condition. Many are added to the library collection. Others are sold at the Friends of the Library sponsored book sales. These sales raise funds for the Library.

 

How do I give a book in memory or honor of someone?

You may also make a contribution in Memory or Honor of a friend or loved one. This can be done by requesting a book memorial or a gift to the memorial fund. These contributions help purchase Library materials. Books bear a special bookplate showing a gift in memory of someone special.

 

Do you have Internet Access?

Computers are available for patron use. You must present your Library Card to use the Internet. An Internet Acceptable Use Agreement must be signed by all users. Children under 18 must have a guardian present to sign an agreement for them. All patrons under ninth grade must be accompanied by their guardian while using the internet.

 

Can I obtain a Passport at the Library?

No. Passports can be obtained at the Roaring Spring Post Office.

Can I make copies?

Black and white copies are available for $.25 each side.

 

Can I send a fax?

Fax service is available for both sending and receiving faxes. $2.00 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page.

 

How do I download eBooks through the library?

Connecting to WiFi

  1. Am I able to use my device to connect to the internet at Roaring Spring Community Library?  Our library provides free wireless to its patrons.
  2. May I plug my device in when using the internet at the library?  Although there are some power outlets available for patron use, there is a limited number of them so we suggest ensuring your device is fully charged before arriving at the library.
  3. How do I connect my device to the internet?  Make sure your wireless card is active.  Look at the list of networks on your device’s available internet connections screen.  The network you want to choose is named “Roaring Spring Community Library” (SSID).  After you choose to connect to that network you should be able to access the internet on your device.
  4. What if I am not able to connect to the internet?  Our library’s staff can only provide limited technical support in helping you connect to the internet.  Remember that not all devices are created equal and that some devices, especially older ones, may not be able to access our network.  Our network is of the type 802.11n.
  5. Is my computer and my information safe?  Our network is an unsecured network.  Any information sent over it may be able to be viewed by someone else.  Also, you are responsible for having your own antivirus software to protect your device.

  7. Can I print files or web pages from my device using the library’s printer?  No, our network does not support printing to the library printer from personal devices.
